Associate / Lead Associate – Closing / Loan Closer
Job Brief
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mortgage Closer to join our team. The candidate should have a strong understanding of the end-to-end mortgage closing process and be well-versed in both federal and state mortgage regulations. This role involves close coordination with Settlement Agents/Title Companies, Loan Officers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely closing of mortgage loans.
The Mortgage Closer will be responsible for verifying closing documents, balancing fees, preparing the Closing Disclosure (CD), and ensuring the smooth execution of the loan closing process.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare and review mortgage closing documents for completeness and accuracy
- Ensure all documents align with the loan approval terms
- Coordinate with Settlement Agents/Title Companies to obtain and verify Title Fee Sheets, Closing Disclosures, Tax Information, Wire Details, and E&O insurance
- Review and update Flood Certificate, Title, Homeowners Insurance (HOI), fees, taxes, and escrow details
- Schedule closings in coordination with Mortgage Loan Officers (MLOs) and Settlement Agents
- Issue Initial Closing Disclosures (CD) and collaborate on final CD balancing
- Prepare and release accurate Closing Instructions and closing packages
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in closing documentation
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal mortgage regulations
- Communicate effectively with applicants, attorneys, closing agents, and vendors
- Maintain documentation and support a complete and compliant loan file
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Graduate in any discipline
- 1–4 years of experience as a mortgage closer
- In-depth knowledge of closing documentation and mortgage regulatory guidelines
- Familiarity with U.S. mortgage industry standards and terminology
- Proficient in LOS, LMS, Microsoft Office, and investor selling guides
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High attention to detail and decision-making based on factual analysis
- Flexible to work in both day and night shifts
- Ability to perform in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
