Lead Associate – Loan Processor
Job Brief
We are seeking an experienced Loan Processor to manage the loan intake process and ensure files are complete for underwriting submission. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess a strong understanding of loan processing workflows, and be familiar with regulatory compliance and third-party vendor coordination.
This role involves reviewing borrower documentation, ensuring all third-party orders are fulfilled, verifying loan file completeness, and maintaining clear communication with Mortgage Loan Officers (MLOs), borrowers, and other stakeholders throughout the loan process
Roles and Responsibilities
- Review loan files upon intake to ensure completeness and eligibility for underwriting submission
- Notify Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) of any missing items and coordinate borrower communication through the client as needed
- Order and track third-party services including title, appraisal, re-inspections, insurance, and credit reports
- Review asset, income, and other borrower documents for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure all pre-underwriting conditions are satisfied before loan submission
- Maintain accurate records and index all documents appropriately
- Send welcome emails to borrowers including preliminary conditions and status updates
- Keep the conversation log updated to track all communication and progress
- Submit loan files to underwriting and coordinate until clear-to-close is received
- Ensure full compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local mortgage regulations
- Meet daily production targets and service level agreements (SLAs)
- Prepare and maintain relevant reports and documentation
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Graduate in any discipline
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mortgage loan processing
- Proficient with multiple Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and interpreting AUS reports
- Experience in direct client and stakeholder interaction
- Solid knowledge of both Conventional and Government loan guidelines
- Understanding of fraud detection related to processing documentation
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal and state compliance regulations
- Ability to assess and review all elements of loan documentation
- Excellent time management, math aptitude, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and escalation handling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Competency in MS Office applications
- Strong presentation and reporting skills
- Willingness to work in night shifts
